Virgin London Marathon

Our marathon team did a fantastic job this year, raising a record breaking total for the charity!

We were very lucky to have fairly good weather, fantastic runners and a great support team.

We had some extra runners for our team - Ed Coates - those of you who followed Ben Fogle and James Cracknell's South Pole challenge will recognise Ed as their third man.  Ed is a obs & gynae doctor in Bristol and so naturally thought to support Wellbeing of Women when he got his marathon place.   Elen Rivas, celebrity lingerie model is also joining the team alongside 2 other women, 5 more men - 2 of them gynaecologists, 2 running for their mothers.

You can sponsor our team effort on this Justgiving page - if you want your sponsorship to go to a specific runner just put their name in the message box.

If you are inspired to take on the challenge of a lifetime and help us to find solutions to the serious health problems that affect so many women, maybe you would like to run for us in 2011?  We already have some applications for next year and places are much sought after - register your interest by sending us an application form today. Download our application form

Please also apply for the Ballot - that way we can get extra runners.  Dates to note:
April 19th - Ballot opens for runners who have been rejected in the ballot in 08 and 09 (this ballot closes 30th April) if you fall into this category you will receive an email from the London Marathon organisers with a link to the online entry system.
May 4th - General public ballot opens online at http://www.virginlondonmarathon.com/

If the marathon seems like a run too far maybe you'd like to consider a 10k or a half marathon.  Or if you are just starting out or haven't run for a while - start off gently by joining us for the Women's 5k Challenge in September.  Have a look at the Running Events page for further details.
