MEET THE EXPERT: A FREE TALK
March 1, 2012, 6.30-8pm.
Sexual Health in the Teenage Years: What You Need to Know
The modern world can be a minefield for teenage girls and their parents. Half-truths and misunderstandings, embarrassment and anxiety can conspire to make these most exciting years a painful and alarming experience for many.
But now the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is staging a unique event to set the record straight, bringing teenagers and their parents or guardians together for a FREE talk hosted by the country’s leading consultant in sexual health.
Speaking openly and candidly, Peter Greenhouse FRCOF FFSRH will debunk the myths and examine the choices affecting young people growing up in the confusion of the modern world. He will throw fresh light on a host of wide-ranging women’s sexual health issues, from body image and sexuality to menstruation and contraception. Most importantly, he will also be listening, answering questions from teenagers themselves and their parents, submitted to him online and anonymously in advance of the meeting.
The first clinician in the country to set up integrated, patient-focused sexual health services, Mr Greenhouse lectures internationally and chairs the Media Committee of the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV. He is script advisor to Channel 4’s Sex Education Show and The Joy of Teen Sex, and is a father himself, his teenage son and two daughters giving him ample personal insights in the joys and challenges of raising a family.
The talk, at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, is being organised by the College’s Consumers’ Forum, a mixed group of medical professionals and lay people working to represent the voice of patients in the College’s activities.
Book NOW to reserve your FREE place, by sending your name and contact details to publiclectures@rcog.co.uk. Remember to include your question for Mr Greenhouse. Your name will not be revealed.
The event is open to all parents, those working with young people, and, of course, teenagers themselves.
