Celebrating fundraising success in the community

On Thursday 12th October, we welcomed over 50 of our dedicated volunteer community at our annual Volunteer Conference, held at the Royal College of Physicians in London. The Volunteer Conference gives us the opportunity to meet the dedicated and passionate supporters working tirelessly to raise funds for our work in women’s health.

The Conference also provides an occasion for volunteers to meet each other and share their wonderful stories of support, as well as to engage with the Wellbeing of Women staff.

This year’s event was another huge success. Volunteers heard from Chief Executive of Wellbeing of Women, Tina Weaver on current projects and why research into women’s reproductive health is so vital; Professor Jane Sandall, a member of Wellbeing of Women Research Advisory Committee on her work as a midwife and transition into academia; Creative Director of Hobbs, Sandy Verdon who spoke about their Autumn collection and launch of new partnership with Wellbeing of Women, and community fundraiser Mark Joy, who spoke about his fundraising for Amniotic Fluid Embolism research.

Following a delicious lunch, we had a presentation of awards celebrating the hard work of our volunteers. Winners included Carol Jeffree of Wealden Branch, Jane Jones from the City Christmas Fair committee, Jean Hall of Great Yarmouth Branch and Marilyn Roberts from the Brighton and Hove Branch. They were presented a Hobbs purple Matilda Pashmina, launched specially to celebrate our partnership with the brand, by Tina Weaver. The Great Yarmouth Branch won the Branch of the Year Award, taking home the coveted glass trophy presented to them by Tina Weaver.

We’d like to thank the Branches for their hard work and committed support. Their continued energy and enthusiasm, helps to change the lives of millions of women and their families – thank you.

We’d also like to say a special thank you to Hobbs, Elemis, Unilever, Hippeas, Hologic and Vitabiotics for their kind support of the event.

We’re already thinking about our 2019 Volunteer Conference and look forward to welcoming everyone again!
