Cricketing legends returned to the crease for the 31st Annual Celebrity Cricket Day hosted by Wellbeing of Women’s Chairman Sir Victor Blank.
It turned out to be a glorious day – the sun shone over the pitch at Chippinghurst Manor and everyone was able to enjoy a terrific game of cricket.
TV presenter Tess Daly was among the stars that came to watch cricketing icons including Andrew Strauss, Brian Lara, Nick Compton and Darren Gough.
Mahele Jayawardene, Shaun Pollock, Mark Nicholas, Kumar Sangakarra, Mike Atherton, Phil Simmons, Phil Defreitas, and Simon Doull also played at the annual fundraiser for Wellbeing of Women. Over 31 years the special event has raised over £8million to find new cures and treatments in women’s health.
Former England batsman Mark Nicholas’ team batted first and scored 292, while former England Captain Mike Atherton’s team batted second, scoring 295 to win.
Thank you to our wonderful sponsors, PwC and Dow Jones, and to our patrons, Finsbury, Vitabiotics and Sir Ron Brierley for making the event possible.
