Our NEW Postdoctoral Research Fellowships round is now CLOSED. Applications will open again in 2019.
Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (PRF) are intended to support research-active lecturers (or equivalent level) to gather data and strengthen their bids for longer-term substantive funding. Research can be in basic science, clinical, or translational research including explanatory and feasibility studies in one of the following three areas:
- Pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period
- Gynaecological cancers
- General wellbeing surrounding women’s health issues
Please note that these awards are open to both clinician and academic researchers, but research must be in obstetrics, gynaecology or focused on women’s reproductive health.
Fellowships are awarded for up to three years and cover new and directly incurred costs of research. Funds cannot be used to pay for salary costs. The upper limit of this award is £30,000. The research must be undertaken in the UK or Ireland.
Postdoctoral Research Fellows must have been awarded an MD or PhD within the last 7 years and be employed by the NHS, HEI or on a postdoctoral research fellowship with at least 50 percent of their time funded to undertake research. Candidates must provide evidence of previous research experience and future research career intentions. Applications may be made to support projects that are already in progress, or for a new project, provided a substantial element of the project is carried out during the course of the Fellowship. Research projects must be capable of being brought to a conclusion within the duration of the Fellowship.
The application form and guidelines will be made available on call launch.
