On Friday, 4 August our incredible Wealden Branch of tireless fundraisers, welcomed over 70 guests to their Annual Summer Lunch. This fabulous event has been going for over 20 years, the sun shone and the Pimms flowed throughout the day.
There were stands selling bags, hats, aromatherapy toiletries, olive oil, plants and jewellery, as well as an extremely popular raffle table, which required a last minute dash to the local stationers for more tickets as they were so in demand!
This year the event was as popular as ever with a waiting list for tickets. Audrey Mills, the Chairman of the branch said, “It’s been such a wonderful day and we are thrilled that it remains so popular year after year. We raised over £1,800 so are very pleased with the result – worth all the hard work! Someone even suggested we host two Summer Lunches to make sure everyone can come along. It’s so important to keep raising money for this remarkable charity that has helped to improve women’s health and childbirth for over 50 years.”
Victoria, the Community Fundraiser at Wellbeing of Women, also attended and said, “I spoke to many of the guests during the lunch and was able to update them on all our news from the many researchers we are funding across our three focus areas for research: Gynaecological cancers, Endometriosis and Preterm Birth. It was great to have the opportunity to meet so many of Wealden’s friends and supporters because without their help we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of women and babies that we do every year.”
A special thanks for Audrey and the committee for their wonderful hard work making this lunch such a roaring success as well as the stall holders; Chapman’s Aromatics, Sheila ‘s Plants, Madajazz, Ginger Joules and Jennifer’s Olive Oil.
