Donate to help women like Emma

Millions of women and girls suffer from severe period pain, heavy bleeding or irregular cycles that disrupt their lives. Many are dismissed and told it’s ‘just’ their period.

This is unacceptable.

Period symptoms like these can be a sign of a gynaecological condition, and treatment is often available.

Our “Just a Period” campaign is educating and empowering girls and women to be in control of their menstrual health from their first period to their last. And we need your support to continue this life-changing work.

Left untreated, some conditions which cause painful periods can even lead to infertility. That’s what happened to Emma.

“Vomiting from pain, or even blacking out, had become a normal part of my period. I knew something wasn’t right, but my pain was dismissed as “just a bad period”. I had lived like this for eight years when I was finally admitted to hospital. Surgery showed I had severe stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis, and my fertility was severely compromised.”
