Women's Health Community Fund FAQs

Is my organisation eligible?

Your organisation can apply if it meets all the following criteria:

  • Must be a small, grassroots organisation (registered charity, non-profit, or community interest company CIC) operating in the UK.
  • Must have an income of less than £250,000 per year or fewer than 5 FTE staff.
  • The organisation must be directly providing services and support to minoritised groups, including but not limited to:
    - Ethnic and racial minorities
    - Women with disabilities (including learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions)
    - LGBTQ+ communities
    - Migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers
    - Women living in poverty
    - Women who are homeless
  • Must provide services in a local or regional community (not nationally or internationally).
  • Must have been in operation for a minimum of 12 months.

What should our projects/activities focus on?

Activities must focus on women’s health in one of the following areas:

  • Periods
  • Menstrual health
  • Perimenopause and menopause

Activities should aim to improve health outcomes through promoting positive and healthy conversations, knowledge sharing, education and/or training.

Where should my organisation be located?

Activities must take place in local or regional communities in the UK, focusing on reaching and supporting underrepresented or underserved communities that have less access to support.

Who should we support?

Activities must support minoritised groups who experience barriers to getting the right access to information, education and healthcare they need. This includes:

  • Ethnic and racial minorities
  • Women with disabilities (including learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions)
  • LGBTQ+ communities
  • Migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers
  • Women living in poverty
  • Women who are homeless
  • Any other minoritised groups

Who is not eligible?

We will not fund:

  • Activities that do not focus specifically on women’s health.
  • Commercial ventures, e.g. coaching, consultancy work, elevated speaker, agency or staff costs.
  • Activities that have already happened.
  • Political campaigns or activities not aligned with the fund’s goals.
  • Capital infrastructure costs, e.g. building work, repairs or maintenance.
  • Research projects.
  • Casual social meetings and gatherings.

How much funding can we apply for?

You can apply for grants of up to £5,000.

The grant covers activities for 12 months.

You will receive:

  • 50% upfront (when the grant agreement is signed)
  • 50% after a 6-month impact report is submitted and approved

Can we use the grant to fund staff?

Yes, but no more than 25% of the grant amount should be spent on staff costs.

What do we need to include in the application?

  • Evidence of need: Why your project is important for your community and any specific gap or need within the target community.
  • Project proposal: A detailed description of the project or activities, including who you expect to reach, expected outcomes, and a plan for evaluation.
  • Budget breakdown: A realistic budget detailing how the funds will be spent.
  • Timeline: Outline key dates, milestones and deliverables over the 12-month period.
  • Impact measurement: How you will measure the success of the project and how your results will be shared and reported.

What documents do I need to apply?

  • Your charity/CIC registration number
  • Proof of your charitable or non-profit status
  • Your organisation’s vision, mission and goals
  • A breakdown of your budget
  • Your latest set of accounts

When does the fund start?

The fund will begin on Monday 15 September 2025, for a period of 12 months.

When do we receive the funding?

If you are successful:

  • You’ll receive 50% of the grant once your agreement has been signed
  • The remaining 50% will be paid once your 6-month impact report is submitted and approved

Wellbeing of Women reserve the right to withhold the second half of funding if the 6-month impact report is late, or if the funds are not being utilised correctly.

What is the application deadline for the current funding round?

Applications close on Sunday 15th June.

How are successful applications selected or assessed?

Applications will be shortlisted based on their eligibility and the impact they will have. Shortlisted applications will then be reviewed by a panel of experts where successful applications will be selected.

What needs to be included in the mid-year report?

The mid-year report will accurately reflect your project to date and will include the following:

  • Number of activities
  • Type of activity (e.g. workshop, event, webinar)
  • Date of activity
  • Direct reach (e.g. number of participants)
  • Indirect reach (e.g. social media impact)
  • Participant feedback (e.g. Scoring the activity out of 10)
  • Quotes from participants
  • Additional participant feedback (e.g. anecdotal insights)
  • Any additional notes you'd like to share
