Wellbeing of Women and Vichy Hormonall Partnership Postdoctoral Research Fellowships provide single candidates with up to £30,000 for research lasting up to 36 months.

Awards may include new and directly incurred research costs, but funds cannot be used to pay for salary, except for non-medical healthcare professionals working clinically in women’s health (such as nurses, midwives, AHPs, and clinical psychologists), who may request a contribution towards salary costs. The research undertaken in the UK.

These awards are designed to support research-active lecturers or equivalent level researchers to gather data and strengthen their submissions for longer-term funding. They are open to both clinician and academic researchers who have been awarded an MD or PhD within the last 7 years and are employed by the NHS, a higher education institution (HEI), or on a postdoctoral research fellowship (or equivalent arrangement) with at least 20% of their time funded to undertake research (unless requesting a salary contribution as non-medical healthcare professionals working clinically in women’s health).

Fellowships will be considered for a basic science, clinical or translational research project focused on hormonal health and wellbeing during one of the following key life stages:

  1. Puberty – including the onset of menstruation, body changes, early hormonal development, and related health and wellbeing challenges
  2. The menstrual cycle – including hormonal regulation, cycle-related disorders, or fluctuations across the lifespan, and related physical and mental wellbeing challenges
  3. Postpartum – including hormonal recovery, postnatal conditions, and their impact on long-term health and wellbeing
  4. Menopause – including perimenopause, symptom management, hormonal therapies, and postmenopausal health and wellbeing

Projects should seek to improve understanding of hormonal health & wellbeing and hormone-related changes or conditions within these stages, with the aim of advancing evidence-based care and improving outcomes in women’s reproductive and gynaecological health. The Fellowship is open to researchers from across the academic and clinical spectrum working in women’s reproductive and gynaecological health.

Evidence must be provided of previous research experience and future research career intentions. Applications may be made to support projects that are already in progress or for a new project, provided a substantial element of the project is carried out during the course of the Fellowship. Research projects must be capable of being brought to a conclusion within the duration of the Fellowship.
