Webinar: Postnatal depression – symptoms, support & onward journeys-image

It’s normal to have some emotional ups and downs during or after pregnancy. But some people have unwanted feelings - such as feeling down, anxious, irritable or guilty - that last longer than 2 weeks, or get worse, and they might find it difficult to cope. These are just some of the signs of postnatal depression, a common mental health condition that can happen after having a baby. It usually gets better with treatment.

Join Professor Dame Lesley Regan as she talks to Dr Julie Hammond and Dr Sadif Rafiq, GPs with lived experience of postnatal depression, and Maria Bavetta, Director of Engagement at the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, about:

  • The signs and symptoms of postnatal depression, and how to recognise these in yourself or others
  • Who to speak to, and the importance of seeking help (even if you’re not sure it’s postnatal depression)
  • Finding, or providing, practical and emotional support
  • Treatment options, from medication to talking therapies, and how to access these
  • How to navigate postnatal depression, as a mother or partner
  • Onward journeys, including support with further pregnancies
