Wellbeing of Women respond to gender pay gap and menopause action plans
Janet Lindsay, Chief Executive at Wellbeing of Women, said:
“Wellbeing of Women welcomes the Government’s introduction of the Equality Action Plans, which we hope will lead to meaningful progress being made in closing the gender pay gap and improvement in menopause support in the workplace.
Research shows that menopause symptoms can have a profound impact on women in the workplace, often at a time when they are at the peak of their careers. Without the right support, too many feel they have no choice but to step back from their careers, leading to a significant loss of expertise, widening skills gaps and fewer women in leadership. We cannot hope to close the gender pay gap or genuinely empower women if they feel they must step away from their careers just as they are reaching the top. These measures represent an important step towards ensuring women can continue to thrive and progress.
As part of our commitment to improving women’s health in the workplace, we created the Menopause Workplace Pledge and provide employers with practical guidance through our Employer Membership Programme. Launching later this spring, will be a free, evidence‑based digital training and education toolkit, MENO-kit, for organisations to raise awareness and better support menopause in the workplace.”
