Wellbeing of Women responds to general election result

Janet Lindsay responds to the election of a new Government

Today, 5 July 2024, the Labour Party won a majority in the general election, and parliament welcomed Sir Keir Starmer as the UK's new prime minister.

In response to the new Government, Janet Lindsay, Chief Executive of Wellbeing of Women, said: "We look forward to working with the new Government and will be pressing them to ensure that women’s health is an immediate political priority.

"We want to see more money for women’s health research to diagnose and treat problems more quickly and effectively. We need to see commitments to better education in schools and wider society for all on women’s health through the life course, including period problems and the menopause. We would also like to see them press workplaces to embed policies and culture that supports women’s health, so that we don’t lose talented members of the workforce due to difficulties with their reproductive and gynaecological health."
