Nearly £4,000 has been raised by supporters in our Miles for May challenge, the first original challenge run by Wellbeing of Women.

Fundraisers walked 1,400 miles across the month of May to raise funds for our research, education and advocacy work, saving and changing the lives of women, girls and babies.

The challenge was designed in partnership with fundraiser Natasha Still, who started her walking group The Walking Women in 2020 to encourage open conversations about women’s health in lockdown while exercising.

In 2019, Natasha was diagnosed with deep infiltrating endometriosis among other women’s health conditions and has found that walking and talking about women’s health has helped to take the taboo out of discussing these issues.

Our fundraisers have exceeded the number of miles walked compared to last year and we can't wait to see how this challenge develops next year. Join our email list to keep up to date with challenges.

As part of PwC’s One Firm One Day, an annual firmwide fundraising and volunteering event, the company took part in a 10km walk across London, fundraising in both of its London offices and raising almost £1,700 through match funding.

Speaking about the success of Miles for May, Natasha said: “It is brilliant that Miles for May has been such a success, raising nearly £4,000 for Wellbeing of Women. I am so pleased that walking and talking about women’s health in lockdown with The Walking Women has led to the creation of Miles for May. The money raised will be vital in making a difference for women.

“It has been our second year walking for Wellbeing of Women and I look forward to seeing our partnership grow in the future.”

Esther Denton, Community Engagement and Fundraising Officer for Wellbeing of Women, said: “We are so grateful to all of our May for May walkers taking part in our challenge this May. They have raised an incredible amount for our charity, which will help to improve outcomes for women, girls and babies.”
